Radio DJ Rio Fredrika presents Capital FM’s morning shows six days a week, and even had the honour of hosting at their Summertime and Jingle Bell Balls last year – a moment she has wished for since regularly attending the events as a child. “I was in the crowd one day and I had this feeling that I wanted to be up on that stage [in the future]. Who knows if manifestation is a real thing, but maybe that’s what happened,” she says. “I cried so much before going on the stage last summer because my dream had come true.”

After trying her hand at modelling from the age of 14, the 27-year-old Londoner worked with media company Unilad in 2015. She caught the attention of MTV and went on to present various shows for the channel, including MTV News Video.

“I have quite a big personality and a lot of things to say. Once I got into presenting, it was a natural progression to get into broadcasting and radio, because it’s a platform where all I have to do is talk,” says Rio, who also guest presented CBBC’s The Playlist before scoring her role with Capital.
