A Cherished Homestead

The trundle bed and rope bed with flame finials in JoAnn and Trony Brooks’ guest room recall yesteryear when dressed in blue-and-white coverlets. The antique accessories, including the child’s-rocker, footstool and toys atop the blanket chest, spark the imaginations of the couple’s grandchildren. The wagon and its pumpkin girl passenger offer some autumn whimsy.

A glass-fronted hutch and corner cabinet in the sunroom work in tandem to house JoAnn’s blue stoneware collection. The beadboard ceiling is painted a soothing shade of light brown that complements the pottery glazes. JoAnn paired the old wood dining table with a new set of black Windsor chairs. “Reproductions are often sturdier, particularly chairs,” she notes.
