Richard Dawson
It was announced on May 22 that Richard Dawson (‘Dicky Dee’) had sadly passed away after a brave fight with illness. Richard was one of the big characters in the scooter scene and a lifelong Lambretta enthusiast. More than that, he played a pivotal part in the rally era, starting out by joining the LCGB committee in the early 1980s. From there he took on the role of helping organise rallies and being dedicated to the cause this meant a lot of travelling, was in he would make the trip. In 2018 Richard announced he would complete one more Euro Lambretta before calling it a day. Poland was to be the final destination and Richard and his partner Jan Page both successfully completed the 2400-mile round journey.A paint sprayer by trade, he was an all-round Lambretta restorer who had produced many well-recognised machines since the 1970s. Scootering was in Richard’s heart, and he loved to meet up and share the passion he had in common with so many others. The rally scene couldn’t have grown and got to where it is today without his input so we will be ever thankful for what he achieved. Our thoughts go out to Jan and all his family at this sad time. One of the scene’s true gentlemen.RIP Richard Dawson.
