As the world opens up again, more and more people are going to increasingly exotic places of travel. Indonesia is becoming one of them and as it’s the world’s third biggest purchaser of scooters and motorbikes (6.49 million in 2019 alone) we thought it deserved a mention. So, for those that fancy a two-wheeled trip to somewhere a bit different, Indonesia might be just the ticket. It has a totally tropical climate and you’ll get two seasons: dry and wet (that’s one more than we have in the UK). The dry season tends to be from April to September.

Indonesia is the world’s largest archipelago, spanning from Sabang in Aceh to Merauke in Papua, it has as many as 17,504 islands; 7870 of them have names, 9634 don’t (now there’s a thought for bods like me who rely on a sat nav). The islands it’s as large as the distance between London and Moscow. Indonesia's land area is about 1.91 million km2 (and you thought the run to Kelso or the Isle of Wight was a trek, eh?).
