CARDIGAN IN HALF BRIOCHE RIB

When you wear this cool and relaxed-fit cardigan, you feel like you are getting a big, soft hug. The cardigan is made in half Brioche stitch and a blended yarn that contains mohair and merino wool. It also has a textured pattern with cables on the upper body.

This has to be the perfect autumn sweater. The colour is a trendy warm shade of brown. The front has an intricate lace and cable pattern. The rest of the model is knitted in seed stitch, and all the edges are knitted in rib. Made in a wool blend yarn, this sweater will see you through the chillier months.

JACKET

We all need an easy little jacket at this time of the year. This one is knitted in a cosy blend of baby alpaca and merino wool. The elegant grey-green shade complements this season's other hot colours. The jacket is easy to knit. It has threequarter-length sleeves and ribbed edges.

BLANKET

Snuggle down in this lovely blanket. Soft to the touch and warm as toast, it is made in a cosy blend of mohair and wool. The pretty mix of pastel shades is simply adorable. The blanket is knitted in stocking stitch. It is incredibly easy to knit, although you shouldn’t be fooled into thinking that a project of these dimensions doesn’t take time. It does!

SCARF

Beige is a classic wardrobe colour - and currently a hot fashion shade too! This means that knitting a beige scarf in fisherman’s rib is a great investment. The lush blend of merino wool and cotton makes this scarf comfortable and warm. What’s more, it is easy to knit.

PONCHO-STYLE SLIPOVER

Last but by no means least, an ingenious design to keep you warm. This poncho-style slipover has generous width and an airy rib collar. You knit with two strands, one each of two lovely yarns containing alpaca, merino and mohair that give your knitting a light-as-air look.

Content: 65 % cotton, 30 % baby alpaca, 5 % merino wool.

50 g = 110 m.

Knitting needles:

Size 5 and 6 mm needles.

Circular needle size 5 mm (50 cm).

Tension:

16,5 sts and 25,5 rows = 10 × 10 cm in St st with size 6 mm needles and Brigitte No. 2 or Sara.

When only one figure is given, it applies to both sizes.

Selvage stitches: On every row: Sl first st kwise, k last st.

Rib patt: K1, p1.

St st: K on RS, p on WS.

Color blocks

Work in St st and Intarsia technique according to chart. 1 square = 1 st and 2 rows. Numbers at right edge of chart indicate RS rows; on WS rows, work sts as they appear and in yarn and col as established.

Letters and numbers in bold on chart indicate yarn and col used:

B16 = Brigitte No. 2 in off white;

B31 = Brigitte No. 2 in yolk;

B19 = Brigitte No. 2 in pink;

S2 = Sara in pink Mélange;

S1 = Sara in pastel purple mélange;

S12 = Sara in reed mélange.

Work each block of colour with separate ball of yarn. Twist yarns around each other at each colour change to prevent holes.

Chart shows back/front in its entirety. Work all sts between arrow a and b (c and d). Chart shows shoulder and neck shaping. Double arrow at bottom of chart points to center of back/front.

Work chart rows 1 - 132 (1 - 140) once.

BACK

With size 5 mm needles and off white cast on 80 (88) sts. Beg and end with a WS row and working first and last st as selvage sts, work in rib patt for 17 rows and piece meas 6 cm from cast-on, increasing 14 sts evenly across last WS row = 94 (102) sts. Change to size 6 mm needles. Work chart for 58 (64) rows and piece meas 23 (25) cm from end of rib patt. Place marker in first and last st on last WS row to indicate beg of armholes. Cont to foll chart for 64 (66) rows and piece meas 25 (26) cm from armhole markers. Shape shoulders and neck as shown on chart and as foll: At each shoulder edge bind off 6 sts 4 times, 5 sts 2 times (7 sts 2 times, 6 sts 4 times). At same time, when working 2nd RS shoulder bind-off row, work neck as foll: Bind off centre 16 sts. Working each side separately, bind off 2 sts at each neck edge 2 times, 1 st 1 time. No sts rem.

FRONT

Work same as back until chart has been worked for a total of 64 (72) rows and piece meas 25 (28) cm from end of rib patt.

Shape V-neck: Next row (RS): Divide work at centre. Working each side separately, bind off 1 st at each neck edge every 4th row 13 times and when same length as back to shoulders, shape shoulders same as for back. No sts rem. Note: When working neck shaping, sts shown in grey on chart can be worked in off white instead of yolk, if you prefere that.

FINISHING

Pin pieces to measurements and block. Sew shoulder and side seams.

Neckband: With size 5 mm circular needle, off white, beg and end at center of front V-neck, pick up and k 149 sts evenly along neck edge. Work in rib patt, back and forth in rows for 3 cm. Bind off all sts in rib.

Lap right neckband over left neckband and sew down along pick up edge at V-neck.

Armhole bands: With size 5 mm circular needle and off white, pick up and k 100 (104) sts evenly around armhole edge. Place beg of rnd marker and join for working in rnds. Work rib patt in rnds for 3 cm.

Bind off all sts in rib.

BACK

* With size 5 mm needles cast on 84 (88) 92 (96) stitches. Next row (WS): Selvage stitch, work next 6 stitches in 1×1 rib = [purl 1, knit 1] 3 times; beg and end with purl 2, work next 70 (74) 78 (82) stitches in 2×2 rib; work next 6 stitches in 1×1 rib = [knit 1, purl 1] 3 times; selvage stitch. Work in pattern as set by last row for a total of 9 rows and piece measures 4 cm from cast-on.

Change to size 6 mm needles. Next row (RS): Selvage stitch, work next 6 stitches in 1×1 rib as established, work next 70 (74) 78 (82) stitches in stocking stitch, work next 6 stitches in 1×1 rib as established, selvage stitch*. Work in pattern as set
