A YEAR OF QUEER

here’s plenty for LGBTQ+ people to look forward to this year. From representation in major sporting events to global Pride marches, 2023 is already set to be an important year for the LGBTQ+ community. Brazil will get a new and progressive president who supports the advancement of LGBTQ+ rights, while Andorra will join the growing list of countries that have legalised same-sex marriage. In the UK, teachers will be given guidance on how to properly support trans pupils and a ban on so-called ‘conversion therapy’ could finally materialise. The country will also celebrate the 20th anniversary of Section 28’s repeal, marking two decades since the end of a ban on “promoting” homosexuality.
