'My lemonade buddy'

Redundancy yields an unexpected sweet side

WHEN life gives you lemons, make lemonade. This proverbial phrase highlights the need for a can-do attitude when faced with adversity, and to find a way to stop worrying and to start living.

The year 2022 has been a challenging one for me. In January, I learnt that my manager was leaving the company I had worked in for two years.

In March, I was informed that my role would be relocated to the Netherlands in June.

Some 18 months before that redundancy - in October 2020 - I had purchased a nine-year-old Dutch warmblood mare, Annie.
