DINNER AT A MEXICAN restaurant that advertises the menu's particular regionally is inevitably inviting. Oaxaca's cuisine is probably the most lauded in Mexico, so we sat down at La Oaxaqueña, eager to sample some specialties.
We didn't come for the atmosphere— which is comfortable, spotless, and welcoming—but, well, it's in the basement of a nondescript strip mall. And while the entrance portico is splashed with neonbright hues banners create a low-key atmosphere. It's a family-run operation.
