Over the last several years, pocket-sized revolvers have made a notable comeback in the concealed carry market. Whether that stems from reduced availability of semi-autos during pandemic panic buys or as a counter-culture movement in the face of near-infinite new releases of carry-class semis, wheel guns are back in the forefront of consumer decision-making. Once the staple sidearm of law enforcement officers and armed citizens alike, the revolver is now a niche and oft-misunderstood weapon with a largely cult following in mainstream gun culture (for example, see page 44 for the latest Taurus). We’ve come across a number of very serious armed professionals, ranging from undercover narcotics detectives to CIA paramilitary officers, who have relied on snub-nosed revolvers to defend themselves in the worst neighborhoods the world has to offer. While they’re certainly not a universal answer for everyone, it’s important to understand what tools are available to you and how best to use them.
