KELSALL 2022

As usual, the commercial vehicle section at the 2022 Kelsall Steam Rally attracted very strong support from commercial vehicles, and not just the ERF fraternity for whom ‘Kelsall’ is the annual national gathering. There were also a fair few vehicles here which aren’t seen at many other events, and of course there’s also lots of cars, tractors and steampowered vehicles! Anyway, here are just some of the commercials that made their way to Cheshire for the event.

1943 AEC Matador was a military gun tractor, being modified by Robert Oliver of Etherley when demobbed. An Atkinson cab was fitted with the steering position and controls moved back about 6ft. It was fitted with snowplough brackets and used on heavy recovery. Subsequently acquired by Bob English, its restoration took three years.

1964 Albion Clydesdale was bought as scrap by Robert Coates of Stoke-on-Trent. The subsequent last nut and bolt restoration took two years.
