Tony Chambers from Bath sent me his sorry-looking Fordson for some long-overdue TLC. The front cowl was the most obvious part that needed replacing as it was bent, rotten and missing the lights and grilles, hardly surprising as the front of most tractors that come to me have damage somewhere. Also, all Fordson models seemed to suffer from rot on the front cowl in the same area - about a quarter of the way down from the top.

Problems

The top section is spot welded to the bottom one and where it overlaps is where you’ll find the problems. Tony had sent a new cowl and a reasonable second-hand one. Because the cowl was damaged, it was no surprise to see the top Super Dexta badge bent and twisted. In my experience, this part is hard to find. If any part suppliers are
