WHILE there is, of course, nothing new in confining covert shooting to cocks only on the first time through, it is a practice that has largely fallen into disuse and is now seldom resorted to or, for that matter, even mentioned. True, rearing is no longer carried out to anything like the extent it once was, but it has always seemed to me to be an excellent idea on a number of counts.
