Like so many of the big tournaments played in this country, the Australian Men’s and Women’s Amateur Championships own an honour roll the envy of many tournaments around the world.
Now played with both the men and women alongside each other as a 72-hole strokeplay event in the mould of the Australian Open, the event heads back to Sydney for the first time since 2015 with St. Michael’s Golf Club and neighbouring NSW Golf Club sharing hosting duties.
There will be 156 men and the same number of women teeing it up across both courses beginning January 10, before the world-famous NSW takes over as solo host for the final two rounds. There will be a cut to the fields following 36 and 54 holes.
Those 312 players will be hoping to emulate the likes of Kiwi Lydia Ko, U.S Open Champion Minjee Lee, Open Champion Cam Smith, PGA Tour winner Cam Davis and more recently the likes
