The skies were blue and the sun was peeking out behind fluffy white clouds as me and my daughter Jodey, then 36, walked down the high street.
We'd been out shopping and I was ready for a break.
‘Shall we stop for a coffee?’ I asked.
‘In a mo, I just want to get a few more Christmas bits,’ Jodey replied.
I rolled my eyes. It was only June!
But Jodey loved Christmas and though she didn't have much, she always wanted to make it perfect for her kids.
Maternal since she was playing with dollies, by 13 she was knocking on neighbours’ doors, offering to babysit.
