Why can’t I drag emails to File Explorer?

In Issue 643’s ‘Save Anything to a USB Stick’ Cover Feature, you say you can use File Explorer to automatically back up emails from your inbox to your USB stick. But when I drag an email from my Gmail account to the edge of the inbox, it stays within that window and doesn’t cross to File Explorer. Can you help? Also, how does another person upload the saved files into
