CRADLE OF FILTH

better embody Halloween than Cradle Of Filth? Spooky, silly and adorned in ridiculous outfits, the Suffolk sextet are at the peak of their powers on the most evil night of the year. For this All Hallows Eve, it’s Indigo At The O2 hosting Dani Filth’s ghastly gathering, and London’s are commencing the festivities. Slipknot comparisons are inevitable, thanks to their masked guitar player, near-uniform costumes and canon of nu/death metal ragers. However, none can dispute their impact asambient, shoegazeinspired take on black metal is less in-your-face than the rest of the bill. That said, it’s absolutely beautiful. The first three songs from 2019’s and both complementing the delicate vocals with their silken shoegaze tones. Factor in that lightshow, where the spotlights ascend with every shimmering riff, and these 45 minutes feel like a holiday to Heaven: respite from the demonic lunacy both before and to come.
