he English are known for their love of tea, a national affinity that is believed to have its earliest beginnings in the 1660s, when Catherine de Braganza, wife of King Charles II, made tea popular throughout the country. In her native Portugal, tea was widely enjoyed, so when she moved to England for her wedding, she brought a chest filled with teas. Queen Anne, niece of Charles II, was such an avid drinker of tea that she replaced her small Chinese teapots with larger, silver versions. The tea gardens
