t a time when Ford was launching the glitzy, transatlantic and thoroughly modern Anglia 105E and BMC was rewriting the rules of small car design with the radical Mini, the Herald seemed very old-fashioned with its three-box shape and body-on-frame construction. But it boasted crisp and pretty Michelotti styling, the familiar and proven 948cc OHV engine from the old Standard Ten, fully independent suspension, a snappy four-speed gearbox, and slick rack and pinion steering with a taxi-rivalling turning circle.
