As Specialized engineer Chris D’Aluisio tells it, the genesis of the brand’s ‘suspend the rider’ approach to gravel bikes was a particularly rough 8km stretch of trail in Eureka Canyon, California.
‘It changed my perception of a bump in the road and convinced me that gravel bikes should try to isolate the rider from the chaos that is going on below them,’ he says.
