PLOUGHING AT DORSET

I arrived in the steam ploughing area of the Great Dorset Steam Fair on the west side of the site during the first morning of the show in some light rain conditions, however that was soon forgotten as the day’s weather turned into sunshine by late afternoon.

Preparing for the day ahead was Steve Gunn from which, along with its sister No. 15528, were used as Fowler’s demonstrators before being sold for the construction of the Abberton and Buckland Reservoirs.  sister was cut up in the 1950s with No. 15529 ending up with Bomford & Carr for dredging until the early 60s, when she went into storage so she has certainly had a hard life. The engine has been with the current owners since the 1980s and was back in steam in 2013 after an extensive rebuild.
