A WILD PLACE NO MORE

In three days of walking, we saw only a handful of people. Instead of humans, we saw nature. We watched whales splash in a sheltered bay, followed cliffs along the coast, the red rock contrasting beautifully with the blue sea. The sun was out, the weather perfect—we walked in T-shirts and shorts and stopped to swim at empty, sandy beaches, squealing with the July cold.
