The ominous-sounding Vipers FCT from Uganda are the only newcomers in this season’s 16-team line-up for the African Champions League with an all too familiar field battling it out for honours.
Half of them are past winners of the continent’s top club prize and there is again a majority representation from the Arabic-speaking north, with nine clubs to seven from south of the Sahara.
