LA loco the story

Before the disastrous effects of the Covid-19 virus, another short word ‘Brexit’ constantly flashed across our TV and Internet screens. Well, Brexit happened. After 47 years, on June 23rd 2016, the UK started the process to leave the European Union. The result of the referendum excited just over half the voting population and appalled the other half. Following the December 2019 ‘landslide’ Conservative election victory and subsequent signing of the withdrawal agreement, the UK was irrevocably destined to leave the European Union.

Looking back to those events from the year 2022, it has definitely changed our relationship with our near neighbours and this seems a good time to remember a great commercial vehicle show as it too, moved to pastures new.

The European vintage commercial vehicle specialist marketplace can be appreciated through the eyes of a voyeur at what had been advertised as the biggest classic truck show in Europe which had been held, with little disruption, annually, for the past 25 years. Both British and American designers have influenced the continental commercial vehicle market and vice versa. There are many brilliant designs with supporting stories from French, Italian, Dutch, and German truck manufacturers and beyond, which have all had effects on the commercial vehicle preservation scene.
