“THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE (ESPECIALLY MEN) WHO’LL STRUGGLE TO TAKE THAT FIRST STEP AND GET INVOLVED IN A GROUP RIDE OR ACTIVITY”
With COVID rampant, inflation rocketing, a renewed threat of nuclear war, society seeming increasingly divided and daily life getting harder for a lot of people, it’s no wonder mental health problems are on the increase. And just because we mountain bikers are seen as a healthy, hearty bunch doesn’t mean we’re immune. That’s why this year we teamed up with Nukeproof and the suicide prevention charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) to launch a series of group ride-outs. Will, Julia and Luke tagged along on one of the Ride Together events at the Forest of Dean Cycle Centre in Gloucestershire to find out what the initiative is all about and whether mountain biking really can help improve your mental health.
