AS CHRISTMAS approaches, I always find myself beginning to make up a case of wine in my head to cover the eventualities of the seasonal holiday, including New Year's Eve. I have a decent resources to select from in the cellar at home, but I still feel the need to compile a ‘Christmas Case’. This is what is most likely to be found in this year's box.
Rather counter-intuitively I might just start at the end, so to speak.
Christmas is the one time of the year that many of us will buyadecent bottle of port. The one that many will be tempted by is Being a namesake is not part of my thinking here but ‘crusted’ port is not so popular these days, perhaps because of the need to decant it before drinking. However, for such a small inconvenience, the resulting taste is far superior to other run-of-the-mill brands.
