HOW MUCH SPACE DO I NEED?

This depends on whether you intend to feed your family and fill your freezer or simply to cut your food bills a little. You could easily provide a family of four to six with the basics with a full-sized allotment (250sq m) or equivalent in the garden. However, if you just want to grow a few tomatoes, a sunny windowsill or hanging basket will do and most other crops will thrive in pots and tubs. Start small and gradually add to your space as your confidence and knowledge grows.
