In the wintertime a home for your garden birds is just as important as feeding them and leaving water for them. Plus they are much needed come nesting time. First find yourself a plank of untreated wood; it will need to be roughly 1.5m long, around 13-15cm wide and importantly 1.5-2cm thick (you can make it thicker, which aids insulation in the winter and keeps it cool in the summer).
