Beat the power cuts to stay online

Find out when you’re likely to have cuts

The National Grid has warned that we’re likely to face power cuts this winter as energy supplies come under pressure. We don’t yet know how often they’ll happen, but you can find out at what point in the day you’re likely to have them.

Every home and business on the power grid, aside from essential sites such as hospitals and sewage farms, is organised into a Load Block. Each Load Block is designated a letter, which you’ll find in a small box at the top of your bill, just below your address (pictured below). Should rolling blackouts be necessary, these blocks will determine who loses power).
