THIRTY-ONE years. That’s how long it’s been since he was diagnosed with the debilitating disease – three decades in which he sank into alcoholism and beat it, raised his family and worked as often and as hard as he could.

Parkinson’s would not define him, Michael J Fox vowed, nor would he allow anyone to treat him like a patient. And it’s this attitude that has helped him become one of the most inspirational figures Hollywood has seen.
