hroughout the history of rock there have always been guitarists at the cutting edge – players finding fresh ways to reinterpret musical traditions and to deliver new sounds with our instrument. Today is no different. I think it’s ’s former reviews editor Ed Mitchell has died aged 52. He had been suffering from cancer. I worked alongside Ed for my first year or so on TG, and later on when he was writing freelance for the mag. He was a larger than life character, funny, quick-witted and with a heart of gold. My thoughts and sympathies are with Ed’s loved ones at this time.
