IRON MAIDEN RUN TO THE HILLS

This legendary track appeared on Maiden’s 1982 metal classic The Number Of The Beast, and features Dave Murray on lead duties with Adrian Smith holding down the rhythm guitar on ‘root-5th’ powerchords. The song kicks off with a run of tricky string bends which need to be pitched as accurately as possible. Aim to hit the target notes quickly, without drawing out the bends.

The verse features Maiden’s trademark ‘gallop’ riffing – a repeating rhythm played mostly on two-string powerchords. Play a constant down-down-up picking pattern, keeping your motion as minimal as
