Filters demystified

Filters can be the difference between a great shot and an okay one, helping to balance tricky exposures, stretch shutter speeds and manipulate the way light is recorded. Landscape photographers are undoubtedly the most prolific filter users, but most filters are suitable for a wide range of applications from portraits to video. And with screw-in, magnetic, square and rear-mounted filters (for ultra-wide and large telephotos with a filter slot on the rear element) available, there’s a filter type available to suit every photographer’s needs.
