The Mac’s Preview app has evolved into a very useful tool for viewing, editing, converting, and annotating images and PDF documents. In fact, if you need to quickly resize an image, change its format, or add a comment or visual note to it, there are few better tools available.
In this tutorial, we’ll focus on using it to convert multipleformat to another. One use case for this could be when you take photos on an iPhone, AirDrop them to your Mac and need to upload them to a website or server, or email them to a friend. By default, the images are saved as HEIC (High Efficiency Image File) format. That’s the format Apple has used since iOS 11 for iPhone camera images. However, it’s a proprietary Apple format, not an open standard like PNG or JPEG, and so is no good when it comes to uploading to a website or sharing with someone who doesn’t use a Mac.
