THROUGH PAINTING AND PRINTMAKING IN HER STUDIO IN THE GREAT DIVIDING RANGE, JENIE FAWCKNER CELEBRATES THE COLOUR, COMPOSITION AND NATURAL BEAUTY OF THE AUSTRALIAN LANDSCAPE.

I see beauty everywhere I go, no matter how majestic or plain the scenery. I love to take a simple or insignificant scene from my natural surroundings and present it artistically in a way that gives it relevance and appeal. Out in the field, I do small plein air studies, sketch and take reference photos. All of which I then take back to my studio to produce larger works on canvas. I cut the wooden stretcher bar and nail it together before my husband stretches the canvas ready for painting.

Once finished, I cut a raw wood frame and assemble it to finish the painting ready for hanging. I
