Washington At His Best – the Proof Washington Quarters

TWO HUNDRED YEARS after the birth of the man who would go on to be known as the father of our country – George Washington – Congress and the Mint got to the task of honoring him on a twenty-five cent piece. That denomination was a working coin in 1932, as well as through the Second World War, times of peace and prosperity, the Cold War, and numerous other developments. It became more and more one of the chief players of everyday commerce. Looking back from 2022 all the way to 1932 we also find that there is now an amazingly long history of proof issues for the Washington quarter. Let’s take a peek and see just how a person might go about building a collection of the best images of Mr. Washington that the Mint has to offer.
