Although 6500 sized multiplier reels balance well with the bass rod, most people choose the versatility of a 5000 sized fixed spool reel. It offers simple casting, a fast pick up of line and simple drag adjustment. Reels with a longer ‘long cast’ spool are a good choice for beach fishing situations, but traditionally shaped deeper spool configurations are fine for closer range such as inside estuary channels and creeks.
