After his misjudged heist caper Plastic (2014), writer/director with this tale of a young climber (Freddie Thorp) attempting to conquer a trio of treacherous peaks in the French Alps. However, Gilbey seeks in vain. The scenery may be stunning, but the story is anything but: there's a bewildering lack of tension until the final act, where a sudden storm belatedly ups the stakes. A romantic subplot with Mathilde Warmer's winsome skier, meanwhile, is torpedoed by its listless lead.
