he British Empire & Foreign Countries auction held at Grosvenor recently was described as ‘a festive celebration of stamps and covers from around the world’, and achieved a final sale total of £759,925. Amongst the highlights was a range of barbados material, including an 1869 cover to Saint Helena. Sent using the 1s.11d. packet rate to Saint Helena, the 4th West India Regiment envelope was addressed to Rosemary Hall on Saint Helena ‘Per Cape Mail/via Plymouth’, endorsed ‘Officer Letter’ and countersigned despite the full charge
