Safari, Passkeys and Security

PASSKEYS, INTEGRATED IN Safari from version 16 and coming soon to other apps on Mac, iPhone and iPad work differently from passwords as it keeps your private key safe in your keychain, and only releases its paired public key. This should be immune to phishing attacks and security breaches, as without your private key an attacker can’t gain access to your account.

1 Switch to Passkeys

When a service supports Passkeys reliably, switch your account to use them instead. Keychain in iCloud ensures your devices sharing the same keychain can use them immediately.
