At the crossroads of the Barrier Highway and Kidman Way, you’ll find ‘The Copper City’, a fascinating town rich in mining heritage and natural attractions. Home to fascinating museums, colonial buildings, open-cut mines, ancient Aboriginal rock art and, of course, the Cobar Rodeo. You know you have arrived in Cobar when the sizeable welcome sign greets you at the start of the township. Large metal letters and cutouts of miners adorn the remnants of the original mining site. And lots of travellers take a photo of the impressive backdrop.
