Ashes to ashes…

The tears spilled down my cheeks as I listened to the voice of Ronan Keating singing If Tomorrow Never Comes.

One of my mum, Eileen McClean’s, favourite songs.

Mum had always liked Irish singers, and we’d chosen it to play at her cremation service.

As I listened to Ronan’s voice, my mind wandered back to my childhood – remembering Christmas in 1997 when I was 12 and Mum had bought a computer racing game, Gran Turismo, for the four of us kids.

Only, she was the one who became addicted to it, not us!

I smiled at the memory and shifted in the chapel seat at Kirkcaldy
