For his solo exhibition “Unknown Affinities,” Dane Mitchell transformed Two Rooms in Auckland Tāmaki Makaurau into what resembled a liminal museum, with a hopscotch of uneven plinths and 107 meticulously exacted sculptural museum mounts for every bird known to be extinct in Aotearoa New Zealand.
