t the end of Maurice Sendak’s 1963 children’s book, ‘Where the Wild Things Are’, when Max must return home, the wild things cry out, “Please don’t go – we’ll eat you up – we love you so!” It’s an ominous threat, but what could be more romantic than, in which a pair of teenage cannibals find love in a hopeless place (rural Indiana) and set off on a road trip across the United States in search of belonging.
