ow is not the best time to observe the Milky Way in the evenings. But under a dark sky with a low horizon all evening treat. Look for seven of the 10 brightest stars. High in the south is the ninth brightest, Achernar. To the left (south-east) is the second, Canopus. Further east is the most brilliant, Sirius. The north-east has a real gathering of these beauties. Orion has two members: the seventh is Rigel and 10th is Betelgeuse. Lower down is number eight, Procyon, and close to the northern horizon is the sixth-brightest star, Capella.
