September saw the start of spring, with the annual Hamilton NZMCA Motorhome Caravan and Leisure show kicking into gear on Friday, September 23 at Mystery Creek in Hamilton. The show was booked out with exhibitors pleased to be in front of customers after last year’s cancellation due to the Covid lockdown, and there was a waiting list for those who missed out on space, keen to be involved right to the last minute if possible.
From the moment we arrived at the Mystery Creek entrance on Thursday we knew it was going to be big. The number of motorhomers who had arrived to stay at the Park’n’Stay rally had already broken previous records of around 1200 vehicles, and by the time Saturday morning rolled around, numbers were approaching, if not breaking, the 2000 mark with motorhomes, caravans, campers, fifth-wheelers, buses and home build RVs packing out the allocated parking as well as the overflow and emergency parking space.
