e live in the Age of IP. Once upon a time, would’ve seemed bizarre – a world, it’s nothing out of the ordinary. Stuffing your game with iconic creations is a hedged bet; the average person is bound to be a fan of at least one of them. It’s undoubtedly cynical and creatively stagnant… and yet weirdly compelling. I love for its solid mechanics – but I have to admit I also find a surreal humour in these mash-ups. There’s almost something subversive about the chaos of them, the way that all context is obliterated and a pacifist robot will happily battle an assassin who bakes her enemies into pies. Hey, if you can’t fight the cultural dystopia, you might as well enjoy it.
