Hey Slam, What's up?
I've been in Copenhagen for the majority of my trip, then Malmo for a couple of days, and onto Paris and Nice. It started off as a Nike Australian trip for the CPH Open, but a few of us stayed longer. The Open was the highlight of the trip for sure and it's definitely as crazy as it looks. Seeing all your idols from when you're a kid in the same space is pretty epic and being able to meet a bunch of new people was sick as well. I mainly travelled with Raph Langslow, Squish, Orion Stefanidis and Howard Palmer, but we linked with local crews in different cities.
I'd been to Barcelona when I was younger for a contest but this trip was completely different. The CPH Open doesn't necessarily feel like a contest, it's more like a skate festival with random skate and non-skate events taking place throughout the week. It was definitely one of the best trips I've been on, in terms of the overall vibe.
I skated one of the last events, which was this down rail off a container into a bank. It was pretty hectic, but Squish and I were keen to skate it, so we went up the top, called out random tricks, and went back to back. It was pretty dope rolling through the crowd and seeing each other on the other side. At the CPH Open, everyone is really just trying to have fun and enjoy themselves, so it's pretty easy to feed off that energy, as opposed to something like X Games, where it's more serious. It was good vibes all around.
At one of the events, supposedly, Nyjah tried to get away with not paying for drinks and the bartender stopped him from walking away. I didn't see this happen, but I was in the vicinity of it happening, and I'm pretty sure he blew up at the bartender, made a big deal out of it and tried to get them fired, haha.
I was more keen to go skating rather than doing touristy things, but we did some spot tourism and saw the basic sights. It was nice doing our own thing most of the time and just enjoying the general scenery
