“We mark the beginning of our practice in 2017 with the birth of our daughter,” says Jemima Retallack from the dining room of her narrow, four-storey terrace house in Darlinghurst, Sydney.

On the lower ground floor is the studio and office of Retallack Thompson, which Retallack shares with her husband and co-director Mitchell Thompson.

The set-up is not informed by circumstance or convenience, but by design. Retallack Thompson was always intended to be a family practice.
