When I noticed Wayne Jacobs’ letter relating to the state of the Pilanesberg Nature Reserve in Issue 21, I thought about responding but as I was due to spend five days there in August I decided to wait. Louis Krouwkamp’s letter in Issue 22 echoed the sentiment, although he seemed most concerned with the Golden Leopards Bakgatla complex. Since I have timeshare there, I will visit at the end of October – so the jury is still out!

As for the Pilanesberg National Park, my five days there were excellent and for me, as a pensioner, R80 for all five days (for park and conservation fees) was outstanding value for money. Yes, the tarred roads are not in good condition. It is, however, clear to a regular that the rainfall this
