The famed Victorian breeder, owner of Melton Stud and brother to Sir Rupert Clarke in Ernest Clarke had remarkable success with his champion stallion The Welkin. Furious was one of 46 stakes winners by that stallion that included such top quality horses as Gloaming and Thrice. Furious was out of the Wallace mare, Danaide. Danaide was quite remarkably a full sister to Ardea who was the granddam of the champion Eurythmic. Their dam, Danae by Calma was a half-sister to another champion in Amberite by Carbine. Sadly, the family is only found through a full sister to Danae in Paisana and few are still active.
